ATLANTA, GA (January 9, 2026) – Morehouse School of Religion (MSR) at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) hosts their 159th Annual Founders’ Day Celebration and C.D. Hubert Lecture Series from Monday, February 9, 2026, through Wednesday, February 11, 2026. This year’s commemorative theme, “Unshakable: The Prophetic Resilience of Black Faith and Black Futures.” Scriptural reference: “We are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.” (Hebrews 12: 26-29, NRSV). The focus is on resilience and faith amid transformative times. God’s kingdom remains unshakable with an indestructible life.

“Throughout Morehouse School of Religion’s multi-day observance, we will highlight the ability of Black faith to act as the infrastructure equipping God’s people to overcome systemic oppression and injustice,” stated Interim President-Dean of Morehouse School of Religion, Rev. Dr. Antonio D. Proctor, Sr. “We can simultaneously envision and work collaboratively toward an impactful future that gives credence to Africentrism.

Celebratory events on Monday, February 9-10, 2026, will be held at the flagship church, Antioch North Baptist Church, 540 Cameron Madison Alexander Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. The Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Prayer Breakfast will be held at Lindsay Street Baptist Church, 500 Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30314. The Morehouse School of Religion mission is “A Servant Seminary for a Serving Church.”

MONDAY – February 9, 2026

4:00 p.m.  – Welcome Reception marks an opportunity for growth, connection, and a sense of community. It serves as a vibrant kickoff to our multi-day celebration.

6:00 p.m.  – Opening Plenary Worship will feature Morehouse School of Religion alumnus, Dr. John R. Adolph of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Beaumont, TX.

9:00 p.m.  – Late Night Worship Service will feature Rev. Cameron Jenkins of Morehouse School of Religion/ Initiator of an Internship Program, Good Hope Baptist Church, Houston, TX. In addition, late night worship will feature Min. Alonzo Brinson of Morehouse College, Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel Assistants Program.

TUESDAY – February 10, 2026

9:30 a.m. Breakout Session will feature alumnus, Dr. Timothy Farmer of the Farmer Tech Group, Atlanta, GA. “AI and the Church: Navigating the Digital Divide”

WEDNESDAY – February 11, 2026

9:00 a.m. Morehouse School of Religion Presidential Prayer Breakfast – A Salute to Local Civil Rights Making a Global Impact. The prayer breakfast features Morehouse School of Religion alumna, Dr. Valerie Tate Everett of West Side Community CME Church, Atlanta, GA.

This year’s prayer breakfast honors Morehouse School of Religion alumnus, Reverend Dr. Grady Butler, a civil rights activist who shared a jail cell with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Atlanta. Dr. Butler is known for his personal experiences with King during sit-ins and has been honored by the SC Senate for his contributions to civil rights and ministry.
