Morehouse School of Religion established the preaching and lecture series to encourage all to continue to proclaim God’s Word as salvation and liberation. The lecture series is named in memory of Rev. Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, who during his lifetime advocated for Civil Rights, preached internationally, and became respectfully known as the “Pulpit Laureate.” Rev. Dr. Gardner C. Taylor served as the pastor of Concord Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York for 42 years between 1948 and 1990.

Rev. Dr. Gardner C. Taylor was also well known for his keen ability to master Victorian period preaching and was often referred to as an “Elizabethan Pulpiteer.”  His astounding preaching abilities, allowed him to be sought by prominent theological centers, including the Lyman Beecher Lecture Series at Yale Divinity School and the E.Y. Mullen Lecture Series at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

A reception will be held on the church campus for registered attendees following the sermon. Please visit www.themorehouseschoolofreligion.org for additional details.
